What is a waiting period?
The waiting period is the waiting period, so to speak. It refers to the period after the start of insurance during which certain benefits are not covered.
How long is the waiting period?
There are two types of waiting periods:
There is a waiting period of 30 days after the start of insurance for cases of illness as well as hereditary diseases and/or congenital defects. This waiting period does not apply if the pet was previously insured with another insurance company without interruption. However, Simpego cannot waive the waiting period if the previous insurer has cancelled the insurance or the pet has been refused insurance by another insurer.
For chronic illnesses, a waiting period of 90 days from the start of the insurance applies, provided the illness was diagnosed before the start of the insurance and the supplementary insurance “Pre-existing conditions” was taken out.
No waiting periods apply in the event of accidents, emergencies or for the reimbursement of preventive treatments.
Is my pet also insured if I take it abroad?
If you are often travelling abroad with your pet, we recommend the additional “Worldwide” option so that your cat or dog is protected all over the world. Without this option, the insurance cover only applies to Switzerland.
