From Veterinary Medicine to Auditing 🐾

The simpego Pet Team brings real-world experience from veterinary practices and day-to-day clinic operations. Since we’ve been managing pet insurance entirely in-house, we rely entirely on practical medical expertise when reviewing claims.

Let us introduce ourselves!

✨ We are professionals—veterinary practice assistants and veterinarians—with years of hands-on experience in small animal practices and clinics. ✨

That’s why we know exactly what veterinary care for your four-legged friend entails—not just in terms of the services listed on the bill, but also from the day-to-day reality of patient care. This practical experience helps us not only to review invoices but also to understand them in a medical context and assess them fairly.
After all, behind every invoice is an animal, a treatment, and often an emotional situation for you as a pet owner.

Who actually checks your vet bills? 🩺

Our team is made up of individuals with diverse backgrounds and areas of expertise—ranging from long-time TPA professionals to veterinarians. Together, we ensure that every invoice is reviewed with expertise, care, and a focus on what matters most.

Here is our team that receives and reviews your veterinary bills:

Natalija
Veterinarian
PET Team: Head of Pet Insurance

My pet is:
Mela, an 11-year-old female miniature wire-haired dachshund from the shelter with a huge personality and a love for tracking in the woods—and watermelon as a snack she’ll happily eat anytime.

Team Dog 🐶 / Team Cat 🐱
My heart belongs to both! Right now, my cat dander allergy is still a hurdle, but for the future, I definitely wouldn’t rule out one, two, or three… cats ā¤ļø

When I’m not working, you’ll find me:
On my patio among all my plants, or on hiking trails where I’m probably the person trying to pet every animal I come across, or out in nature dancing.

My favorite animal is:
Without a doubt: cows. I’m happy whenever one of them gets to enjoy a little pet from me.

The craziest thing my pet has ever done:
Challenging a Great Dane to a fight—and, as a miniature dachshund, being completely convinced that I had the upper hand.

My pet would describe me as:
My personal snack officer, who unfortunately thinks my career as a hunter is less important than a leisurely walk…

Coffee ā˜• or tea šŸµ?
Definitely coffee! My day doesn’t really start until after my first cup.

Deborah
Veterinary Practice Assistant (EFZ ), PET Team: Deputy Team Leader and Pet Insurance Specialist

My pet is:
Flynn, a small mixed-breed rescue dog from an animal shelter. He’s a Corgi-Terrier mix with a mind of his own and a lot of determination.

Team Dog 🐶 / Team Cat 🐱
I’m definitely on Team Dog 🐶

When I’m not working, you’ll find me:
Either out in the woods with Flynn or at the nearest cafƩ with a good book in hand.

My favorite animal is:
Cows have always fascinated me. I find the calm, positive aura these animals give off truly captivating. That’s why I enjoyed my internship year working with livestock all the more—surrounded by so many cute calves.🐮

The craziest thing my pet has ever done:
While we were stand-up paddleboarding in the middle of the lake, Flynn decided he didn’t feel like swimming anymore, so he jumped into the water without a second thought and pulled us back to shore.

My pet would describe me as:
A snack machine and chauffeur rolled into one.

Coffee ā˜• or tea šŸµ?
Definitely coffee. Without my two cups of coffee in the morning, I just can’t get going.

Elina
Veterinary Practice Assistant (EFZ), PET Team: Pet Insurance Clerk

My pet is:
Teddy the cat

Team Dog 🐶 / Team Cat 🐱
I can’t decide—so Team Both 😊

When I’m not working, you’ll find me:
At the gym.

My favorite animal is:
Actually, all animals are among my favorites.

The craziest thing my pet has ever done:
Teddy once brought a grass snake into the apartment.

My pet would describe me as:
Loving and caring.

Coffee ā˜• or tea šŸµ?
Definitely: TEAM COFFEE

Sarah
Veterinary Practice Assistant (EFZ), PET Team: Pet Insurance Clerk

My pets are:
Three chickens named Nelly, Emmi, and Marie, and a snake named Goldi.

Team Dog 🐶 / Team Cat 🐱
I’m on Team Dog.

When I’m not working, you’ll find me:
Most likely with my animals.

My favorite animal is:
The chinchilla.

The craziest thing my pet has ever done:
My chicken Nelly decided that fences are just for decoration.

My pet would describe me as:
The best feeder ever.

Coffee ā˜• or tea šŸµ?
I’ll go with the chai latte šŸ˜‰.

Vanessa
Veterinary Practice Assistant (EFZ), PET Team: Pet Insurance Clerk

My pet is:
I have five cats, four chickens, and two dogs.

Team Dog 🐶 / Team Cat 🐱
Definitely Team Dog, even though I have five cats.

When I’m not working, you’ll find me:
Outdoors in nature, in the mountains, by the lake, or at the dog sports field.

My favorite animal is:
The tiger.

The craziest thing my pet has ever done:
One of my dogs has a kleptomaniac streak. No matter what’s missing, you have to look for it first.

My pet would describe me as:
Adventurous.

Coffee ā˜• or tea šŸµ?
Team tea.

Simone
Veterinary Practice Assistant (EFZ), PET Team: Pet Insurance Clerk

My pet is:
At home, our four cockatiels keep us entertained. 🐦

Team Dog 🐶 / Team Cat 🐱
I’m on Team Cat.

When I’m not working, you can find me:
At the pool in the summer.

My favorite animal is:
Horses

My pet would describe me as:
Strict but still very loving.

Coffee ā˜• or tea šŸµ?
I prefer a good cup of tea over coffee.

Ramona
Veterinary Practice Assistant (EFZ), PET Team: Pet Insurance Clerk

My pet is:
I used to have two silver tabby British Shorthair cats; I don’t have a pet right now.

Team Dog 🐶 / Team Cat 🐱
Team Cat

When I’m not working, you’ll find me:
Outdoors in nature or at the playground.

My favorite animal is:
The elephant.

The craziest thing my pet has ever done:
Our first cat let us push it around in a stroller.

My pet would describe me as:
loving, responsible, and caring

Coffee ā˜• or tea šŸµ?
I’m on Team Coffee.

Lara
Future Veterinarian,
PET Team: Student Worker, Pet Insurance

My pet is:
Bloom, my black toy poodle.

Team Dog 🐶 / Team Cat 🐱
Definitely dogs, but cats are pretty okay too šŸ˜‰

When I’m not working, you’ll find me:
Studying for my veterinary degree or out for walks with Bloom.

My favorite animal is:
Almost all animals.

The craziest thing my pet has ever done:
Bloom chased seagulls for kilometers, even though he never had a chance of catching them.

My pet would describe me as:
A loving cuddle buddy and loyal adventure companion.

Coffee ā˜• or tea šŸµ?
Definitely coffee.

Our Companions

In addition to our team, our office dogs are also an integral part of our daily routine. They keep us company in the office, help create a positive atmosphere, and bring a sense of calm and balance to our workday. 🐶

Mela
a miniature dachshund grandma with big-game hunter ambitions and a clear mission: to snag snacks wherever possible.

Flynn
a Corgi mix and office expert in relaxed days and strategic treat-giving.

Bloom
the toy poodle, seagull hunter, and self-proclaimed four-legged adventure pro.

Stella

French Bulldog —not intimidated by the size or noise level of other dogs.

Tayo, our very own office police officer.

A Rottweiler who makes sure there’s order, good cheer, and mandatory breaks for petting at work. Anyone who doesn’t go along with this will be required to pay ā€œfinesā€ in the form of treats or a round of play. Objections are futile—no one can get past him!

We’re here to help you and your pet personally. šŸ’¬
